Realizing the Dream Fights Poverty in the United States

Accomplished student Rachel Lader maintained membership in the National Honor Society throughout high school, and appeared on the dean’s list all 4 years of college. Currently a student at New York Law School, Rachel Lader balances her academic pursuits with charitable work. In the past, she has volunteered with Realizing the Dream.

A non-profit organization founded by Martin Luther King, III, the third son of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mrs. Coretta Scott King, Realizing the Dream aims to advance racial equality and justice through initiatives related to poverty, civic engagement, and violence.

The organization includes a domestic branch focused on combating poverty in communities throughout the United States. The Poverty Project, for example, focuses on sustainable private investments in local communities. Realizing the Dream’s poverty-fighting projects also include the 50 Communities Network and the Generation II Global Peace Initiative, composed of children and grandchildren of various prominent 20th century activists.
